AN ANTIDOTE TO POVERTY

Ise loogun ise
Mura si ise ore mi
Ise ni a fi n di eni giga
This is a Yoruba poem I have grown up to learn

That gives me courage to work hard
But the hard workers are wallowing in grinding poverty
While the lazy are reaping what they did not work for.

Parent listen to your Children
We are the Leaders of Tomorrow,
This is a song
sang by kids that give hope
That after the struggle, the sky will be a stepping stone
But those in power already reserve the seat for their generations to come

Why do we have to work so hard
And at the end have nothing to show for the hard work
I thought education and hard work leads to success
But even those that doesn't work reap where they didn't sow
What is our gain for hard work and education
When there's no success after all?

 Iya re le l'owo l'owo
Baba re le l'eshin leekan
Ti o ba gb'oju l'ewon
O té tán ni mo so fún e
If this I have learnt can be manifested
And education and hardwork  leads to success truly
Then this world will be a better place

Translation
Ise loogun ise - Work is the Antidote to poverty
Mura si ise ore mi - hasten to work my friend
Ise ni a fi n di eni giga - it is only through work we can be successful
Iya re le l'owo lo'wo - your mother can be wealthy
Baba re le l'eshin leekan - your father can may have  many mansions and estate
To ba gb'oju le'won - if you depend on them
O té tán ni mo so fún e  - you will be disappointed
